وقتی یک استاد بودایی و پیروانش شروع به مراقبه عصر نمودند گربه ای که در آن معبد بود آنچنان سرو صدایی براه انداخت که آنها نتوانستند تمرکز کنند . لذا استاد دستور داد که گربه را هنگام مراقبه عصر حبس کنند .ـ

سالها بعد، وقتی استاد از دنیا رفت گربه همچنان در طول زمان مراقبه حبس می شد. سرانجام وقتی گربه مرد، گربه ی دیگری به معبد آورده شد و آن را هم هنگام مراقبه بعد از ظهر حبس می کردند.ـ
قرن ها بعد ، شاگردان تعلیم دیده ی آن معبد طی رسالات مذهبی در مورد اهمیت مناسک مذهبی حبس گربه در هنگام مراقبه بسیار قلم زدند.ـ

Ritual Cat

When the spiritual teacher and his disciples began their evening meditation, the cat who lived in the monastery made such noise that it distracted them. So the teacher ordered that the cat be tied up during the evening practice. Years later, when the teacher died, the cat continued to be tied up during the meditation session. And when the cat eventually died, another cat was brought to the monastery and tied up. Centuries later, learned descendants of the spiritual teacher wrote scholarly treatises about the religious significance of tying up a cat for meditation practice.
